  FORT WORTH, Texas – At the first-ever Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo Qualifier held Thursday night during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, the Low Riders rode lights out, winning the event and $50,000 champion’s prize purse with dominant shootout round victories in the barrel racing, steer wrestling, team roping and tie-down roping. Under the leadership of 26-time PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) World Champion  Trevor Brazile , the Low Riders punched their ticket to the Shootout Round via gold medal showings in the opening round for the steer wrestling and team roping. Brent Thurman was a professional bull rider whose tragic death remains one of the most somber moments in rodeo history. Thurman was competing at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas on December 11, 1994, when he suffered a fatal accident during a bull ride. Thurman, a 25-year-old Texan, was riding a bull named Red Wolf , a notoriously powerful animal. During the ride, Thurman was bucked off the bull, and in a tragic turn of events, the bull landed on him. The weight of Red Wolf , estimated at over 1,800 pounds, caused severe injuries to Thurman, including a fatal blow to his chest and head. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to the hospital, Thurman succumbed to his injuries the following day, December 12, 1994.
